“The Port of Houston Authority Fireboat, which is a Metal Craft Firestorm 70’, made good time down the Houston Ship Channel to fight the barge fire resulting from the collision. All of the fireboats assets were utilized to mitigate the fire, including the FLIR and thermal imaging capabilities to monitor the integrity of the hull, the fire streams to control the fire and protect exposures, and the air monitoring to monitor the atmosphere. The technology utilized on this boat enabled us to keep a bad situation from becoming much worse.”
